BOND IS BACK IN ITALY
Daniel Craig was done with Bond, but Italy has won him over yet again. The supposed 25 million dollar payment likely convinced him as well.
Craig is lacing up the shoes of 007 again in the new James Bond installment, “No Time to Die”. The film is being shot in the famous Sassi area of Matera, Italy. The iconic Aston Martin was seen being capriciously driven through two Sassi squares in Matera, with a stunt driver behind the wheel and long blonde hair flowing from the passenger’s side. The total time of the film that takes place in Matera is 18 minutes, but we cannot be sure how much time Matera will truly have until the film is released.
Matera
The production is going to be creating approximately 400 jobs in Matera to help work the film. Matera is also likely to be traveled to after the film comes out in the spring of 2020. The economy is supposedly estimated to boost by 10.7 million US dollars in the European city of culture, Matera, according to the mayor, Raffaello De Ruggieri.
Bond will also shoot in other picturesque parts of Italy: Gravina in Puglia, Sapri, and Maratea.
In Matera, scenes are shot by their grand cathedral and the ancient cave houses. Specifically, Bond will shoot in a constructed hotel built for the movie in the Sassi of Matera, the area below Piazzetta Pascoli, in the historical center of Matera, and in the British cemetery in the Park of Murgia Materana.
25th Bond
Cari Fukunaga, Emmy award-winning director, is directing the 25th installment of the Bond films. Along with Craig, French actress Léa Seydoux will be playing the role of the Bond girl once again. Naomie Harris will be playing Moneypenny, Ben Whishaw will be Q, and Rami Malek the villain. Producer Barbara Broccoli describes the villain as “… the one who really gets under Bond’s skin. He’s a nasty piece of work.”
Bond, of course, has had many jaunts in Italy. He has been to Rome, Venice, Siena, Lake Como, Lake Garda, the Sardinian coast, and the mountains of Cortina D’Ampezzo.
No Time to Die
In “No Time to Die”, Bond has left MI6 and is enjoying a quiet retirement in Jamaica. I know what you’re thinking, and you’re right because Bond’s plans don’t go smoothly when he is called by his friend Felix Leiter from the CIA asking for Bond’s help to find a kidnapped scientist.
The film would have been released April 8 had it not been for the corona crisis. New release date in cinemas is now November 12, 2020 (United Kingdom) and November 25 (rest of the world).
